Small Projects Grants 2018

Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) is excited to release this Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2018 Small Projects Grants. These grants support chapters with exciting ideas that do not fit in one of ESW’s ongoing partnership-based initiatives. These grants will be distributed in early February, 2018, for use anytime during the 2018 year. For more information, please contact Projects & Education Director Elizabeth Schultz.

ESW invites submission of proposals for amounts of up to $500 per chapter for projects outside our ongoing partnership-based initiatives. Chapters may submit proposals for any planned or ongoing projects. The intention of the program is to support the implementation of projects that would otherwise remain unbuilt, and which will improve local sustainability. Applications are limited to chapters that are in good standing with ESW-National at the time of submission.

Proposals should be no more than three pages in total length and include the following:

  • Description of the project and progress to date (if any)
  • Description of the activities to be undertaken with the awarded funds
  • Metrics for project success and sustainability impacts
  • Timeline for project completion
  • Itemized budget proposing how funds will be spent
  • Primary contacts for the project leader(s) and chapter leader(s)

Grantee requirements:

  • Be a member of ESW
  • Be in good standing with ESW-National at the time of  application
  • If selected, complete a grant report

Please note that a requirement of receiving these awards will be, upon completion of the project, to submit the following to ESW:

  • A description of the project and results in ESW's Project Directory
  • Photos of the project and team members
  • A one page maximum letter thanking our donor and describing the project and results

Grants should be submitted as PDF files with all necessary components.

Grants will be awarded in the amount of up to $500 per chapter for an ongoing or planned ESW project. Chapters may choose to propose any amount up to $500 per an itemized budget to be included in the proposal. ESW reserves the right to award a lower amount than requested.

Proposals should be submitted by email to Elizabeth Schultz by December 31st, 2017 at 11:59pm EST. A committee will review the proposals, and chapters will be notified of awards by February 1st, 2018. Letters and checks will be mailed to awardees starting in February. Funds may be used at any time during 2018.
